(AP) - Lyonssomewhere beat favorite He's Watching by a half-length Monday to win the $437, 325 Cane Pace, the first leg of the Pacing Triple Crown.Lyonssomewhere, driven by Yannick Gingras, took the lead on the first turn. He's watching, driven by Tim Tetrick, went four-wide to challenge the leader, but could not catch him. Doo Wop Hanover finished third.

  • Munirah rallies late to win Monmouth Park feature

    OCEANPORT, N.J. (AP) - Munirah overtook Sumba Sunset in the closing strides to win by a head in the $100,000 Boiling Springs Stakes at Monmouth Park on Monday.Trained by H. Graham Motion and ridden by Trevor McCarthy, the 3-year-old filly ran the 1 1/8 miles over a firm turf course in 1:47 2/5 and returned $9.80, $5 and $3.20. The win in the Grade III race was her second victory in three career starts.
